We know more about the issues and challenges we face as a nation and in the global community. We may also feel that we have to work harder, juggle more responsibilities, and spend less time with our families and communities than our parents did.

These two components of our lifestyle may make us feel that there is little that we can personally do to change the social and ecological circumstances around us or globally, even though most of us probably continue to feel that things could, if not should, be different. Perhaps you ask yourself, "What can I do about all of that?" "What can any of us who are already working so hard in our lives do?" "What impact could I make, really?"
